Je was erbij / You were there   Onthulling / Unvealing monument Charles Sciascia - Waasten - 01/08/2007 Hieronder een aantal foto's van de onthulling van het monument ter ere van Charles Sciascia te Waasten op woensdag 1 augustus 2007. Charles Sciascia, sergeant bij het Wellington Regiment (N-Z), sneuvelde te Waasten in de wijk Basseville. Sinsdien is hij vermist. 400 soldaten uit Nieuw-Zeeland sneuvelden in de sector Waasten-Mesen eind juli 1917. De naam van Charles Sciascia staat vermeld op Messines Ridge New Zealand Memorial. Een 40-tal personen, voornamelijk Maori, waren te Waasten aanwezig samen met de ambassadeur van Nieuw-Zeeland. Please find below a few pictures of the unvealing of the monument for Charles Sciascia from New Zealand. This sergeant of the Wellington Regiment from New Zealand died at Waasten and has no known grave. 400 soldiers from New Zealand died in the sector Waasten-Messines, end July 2007. The name of Charles Sciascia is mentionned on the Messines Ridge New Zealand Memorial. 40 people, essentially Maori, attended the ceremony in the presence of the ambassador of New Zealand.
