Salient and Sanctuary - Ieper - 14/07/2007
Please find below a few photographs of the inauguration
of the exhition 'Salient and Sanctuary - India in Flanders
and Brighton' at the In
Flanders Fields Museum, on Saturday, July, 15th, 2007,
at Ieper.
Between October 1914 and November 1915, the Indian Army
Corps was present in France & Flanders. Thousands of Indian
wounded were evacuated to hospitals in Brighton. This exhibition
sheds ligt on this double presence.
Hieronder een aantal foto's naar aanleiding van de tentoonstelling
'Salient and Sanctuary - India in Flanders and Brighton' die
op zaterdag 15 juli 2007 werd geopend in het In
Flanders Fields Museum in Ieper.
Tussen oktober 1914 en november 1915 verbleef het Indische
Legerkorps aan het front in Vlaanderen en Noord-Frankrijk.
Duizenden Indische gewonden werden van hieruit geëvacueerd
naar speciaal ingerichte hospitalen in Brighton. Deze tentoonstelling
schetst een beeld van deze dubbele aanwezigheid.
