Nieuwe klaroenen / New bugles - Ieper - 08/06/2007
Hieronder een aantal foto's van de overhadiging van 8 nieuwe
klaroenen aan de Last
Post Association op vrijdag 8 juni te Ieper.

Post Association on Friday, June, 8th, 2007, at Ieper.
Op 16 september 1928, nu 79 jaar geleden, schonk de toenmalige
Britse Ambassadeur in België, Lord Granville, aan de
Last Post Association 4 zilveren klaroenen, gesponsord door
verschillende takken van de Royal British Legion. Sindsdien
hebben de klaroenen meer dan 27.000 maal geschald en is de
tijd gekomen om deze te vervangen door nieuwe instrumenten.
Onze huidige ploeg klaroeners zal bovendien uitgebreid worden
tot acht leden. Acht nieuwe gelijkgestemde klaroenen zullen
nu ter beschikking staan en een perfecte harmonie garanderen.
Wij zijn zeer verheugd dat de National President van de Royal
British Legion, Air Marshal Ian Macfadyen, speciaal naar Ieper
overkomt om ons deze nieuwe instrumenten te overhandigen.
Daarom werd op vrijdag 8 juni 2007 om 20u00 een speciale Last
Post plechtigheid georganiseerd.
Vooraf werd de pers uitgenodigd in de St. Georges Memorial
Church.
78 years ago, on September 16th, 1929, the British Ambassador
in Belgium , Lord Granville, presented 4 silver bugles to
the Last Post Association, which had been sponsored by the
various branches of the Royal British Legion. Since, the bugles
have sounded roughly 27000 times. Our actual team of buglers
will be expanded to eight. In our strive for perfection, time
has come to replace them by 8 new bugles, allowing a perfect
harmony between all instruments.
Once again, The Royal British Legion has been so friendly
and co-operative to support us and will sponsor the new bugles.
The 8 new bugles were handed over by the National President
of the Royal British Legion, Air Marshal Ian MacFadyen, during
a special Last Post Ceremony on Friday June 8th at 20.00 hrs.
The members of the press were invited to a reception before
the ceremony at the Church hall - St Georges Memorial Church
at Ieper.
