WO1-veteran visits / WO1-veteraan bezoekt Talbot House - Poperinge - 10/11/2007

Please find below some pictures of the visit of Henry Allingham, one of the last five British veterans to Talbot House on Saturday, November 10th, 2007.

Arrival of the 111-year old/young veteran.

Henry tells the public what he remembers of his visit to Talbot House in 1917.

Signing pictures and greeting the public. This young guy is 101 years (!) younger than Henry: 'Enjoy life' was Henry's message.

Smelling the roses because during his visit in the Great War, there were also roses at Talbot House.

Time for a cup of tea.

And again greeting the visitors.

Signing the book of honour of Talbot House: 'The usual stuff'.

Together with Danny Nolf and Annelies Vermeulen from Talbot House and Yvonne from the Dutch forum on the Great War.

Drinking tea in the kitchen and having a look in the garden.

Meanwhile Henry is interviewed by the regional televison.

Always laughing and joking, it was great.

In the garden he meets Benoît Mottrie, chairman of the Last Post Association, who is accompanied by other members of the LPA. The chairman asks Henry if he has ever been to the Menin Gate at Ypres.

Thanks you Henry for your visit !!
