Iedereen verzamelde op de markt voor een hulde aan het gemeentelijke
gedenkteken.

and his wife were present at Messines.

Afterwards everybody moved
towards the New
Zealand Park at Messines.
First of all a prayer.
A lot op people from New
Zealand came to Messines to remember the fallen soldiers.
Let us pray.
The New Zealand Division
attacked Messines on the 7th of June 1917 and realized its objectives.
Messines is twinned with
Featherston from New Zealand.

together wth Belgian flags before the memorial.
Hellen Pollock, artist,
was also present at Messines.
Afterwards everyone went
back towards the marketplace and the Adelahouse for the tradtional speeches.
Exchange of gits between
the city of Messines and the Ambassador. And a special thank you for Annelies,
who worked together with the city of Messines for many years, but now leaves Belgium.

A special thank you for
Guy Hellem, who was present at the Anzac ceremonies at Messines for 50 years.
On Saturday, 25th of April 2009, he played the Last Post for the last year. Guy
Hellem also received an attention by Ambassador Kennedy of New Zealand.
