Tapijt terug / Tapestry back - Ieper - 17/10/2009

Uit het bericht van de heer Nigel Robinson: 'I have spoken to my cousin and he tells me it was a wish of his father Pte Eutychus Robinson that the tapestry should be returned to the cathedral in Ypres. Eutychus joined the Royal Engineers in 1911, he entered France 12 Oct 1914 and served through out the war. He recovered it from the ruins during WW1 and held on to it for safe keeping always intending to return it after the war. Of course he moved around so much during the war and when it ended and he returned to England to go back was just not possible for him in those days. Since he died his son Malcolm has tried to arrange for the return.'
